Questions

Questions about the GCC

Do you prepare me for the Saudi SVP test?

Yes, on the Pipe Welder Programme, as welding is an SVP trade, and you take the test at an accredited SVP centre in India, while crane operators and nurses go through other checks

Can I drive in the UAE with my Indian licence?

No, India is not on the UAE licence exchange list, so you pass the eye test and the theory, yard and road tests at a UAE driving institute, from age 20 for heavy vehicles

Do I need emigration clearance?

Only if your passport is ECR, or you are a nurse, and you are going to work in any of the six GCC states, and if you passed 10th your passport is usually ECNR

Are there rules for women going to the GCC?

Yes, women under 30 with ECR passports cannot get emigration clearance for jobs in ECR countries, which include all six GCC states, and women with ECR passports aged 30 or over can go only through state government recruiting agencies

How do I check that a recruiter is genuine?

Ask for the agent's registration number and check it in the list of active recruiting agents on emigrate.gov.in, never hand over your passport before the job is checked, and call the MEA helpline on 1800 11 3090 if unsure
