About the programme

From Indian trucks to international trailers

Transport companies hire drivers who can couple a trailer safely, plan a legal working day and secure a load, and many ask for basic English with dispatch

Every day has a classroom block and a session in the practice yard, and you finish with an AnywhereSkills certificate and a scorecard for every module

Who can join

Eligibility

  • Heavy goods licenceA valid Indian HMV, HGMV, HTV or TRANS licence
  • Driving experienceYou already drive trucks in India
  • Age and passportAge 21 or above, with a valid Indian passport or one applied for
  • Basic EnglishYou can read simple English, and we build your speaking
  • Medically fitFit to drive heavy vehicles, with good eyesight

What you will learn

Four modules, one standard

Classroom modules run one after another, and practical sessions run every day of the programme

MODULE 01DAYS 1 TO 5

Trailer Theory

How tractor-trailer combinations work, and how to handle them safely

  • Trailer types: curtainsider, box, reefer, flatbed and tanker
  • Fifth wheel coupling and uncoupling, step by step
  • Air brakes, trailer air lines, ABS and EBS basics
  • Axle weights, load distribution and load securing
  • EU vehicle dimensions and weight limits
  • Daily walk-around checks and defect reporting
MODULE 02DAYS 6 TO 15

English for Interview Preparation

The English a driver uses on the road, at the depot and in the job interview

  • Introducing yourself and your driving experience
  • Answering common interview questions with confidence
  • Road, vehicle and delivery vocabulary
  • Talking to dispatch, customers and police
  • Reading delivery notes and transport documents
  • Mock interviews with feedback
MODULE 03DAYS 16 TO 18

Code 95 Topics

The main topics of the EU driver qualification, so you start your Code 95 course prepared

  • EU driving and rest time rules
  • Digital and smart tachographs: cards, modes and records
  • Fuel-efficient and defensive driving
  • Road safety, accidents and emergencies
  • Cargo safety and driver health
MODULE 04DAYS 1 TO 18

Trailer Practical

Hands-on time with a tractor and trailer in the practice yard, every day

  • Pre-trip inspection of tractor and trailer
  • Coupling and uncoupling in the yard
  • Straight and offset reversing
  • Reversing into a loading bay
  • Tight turns, positioning and parking
  • Safe habits employers check on a test drive

Code 95 is issued in the EU country where you work, after the course and test that country sets, and it cannot be taken in India

Programme questions

Will I get Code 95 in India?

No, Code 95 is issued only in the EU country where you work, after a course of 140 or 280 hours and a test there, and our 3-day module covers its main topics so you start prepared

Can I drive in Europe with my Indian licence?

No, to drive a truck for work you need an EU CE licence and Code 95 from the EU country where you work, and some countries let you exchange your Indian licence after a test while others ask for the full licence tests

Can I drive a trailer in the UAE with my Indian licence?

No, India is not on the UAE licence exchange list, so you pass the eye test and the theory, yard and road tests at a UAE driving institute, from age 20

Do I need to speak good English?

You need to read basic English, and the English for Interview Preparation module builds your speaking

Where do I stay during the programme?

In the hostel at the centre, with meals for the full programme
